The Firetree are a five piece band, blending energetic rock rhythms with laidback country
pop sensibilities to create a distinct sound that has captivated live audiences along the east coast of Australia.
The Firetree have been making their mark online with their pre-release tracks consistently
placing in the top 5 of Ourstage.com’s Pop and Indiepop charts. This has put them in the Best Of
Pop Chart with some of America’s best independent artists (peaking at #2). Their pre released
track ‘Riches’ was chosen for Mark Cameo’s World Indie Top 10 Chart in March 2010, while
‘All We Have’ is currently recieving regular airplay on ABC Coast FM (90.3FM).
History
In 2006 Dale Buchan won the prestigious Byron Bay Busking Competition and performed at
the 2006 Byron Bay Bluesfest. Dale has also performed at the Woodford Folk Festival 06/07 with
the emerging artirts program.
Josie Cubis recorded and released her debut solo album independently in 2005 which sold over
4000 copies. She became a firm favourite on the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane music scene, and
in 2007 supported Missy Higgins at The Lake, Kawana.
Together Josie and Dale have play at a huge number of cafes markets pubs and small festivals
over the east coast of Australia.
As a band The Firetree have performed at The Caloundra Music Festival, Noosa Festival of
Surfing, The J Woodford Winddown with Jeff Lang, The Great Noosa Camp Out 2010,
supported Bobby Flynn and played at the African L.E.A.F fundraiser with Australian music
legend Brian Cadd (Byron Bay).
